Famous Brides & What They Wore

When considering your ‘big day’ and all of the options available in terms of your dress, accessories, shoes, etc., it may be helpful to look at what celebrities wear for their big event. Consider what may be flattering for your body shape and what accents you can add that will allow your dress to feel custom-made.
Here are some of my favorite dresses that may aid you in starting your search:

This dress is one of my personal favorites – it was worn by Carolyn Bassette Kennedy, and it was created by Narcisco Rodriguez as is evidenced by the simple and lean silhouette. The shape and simplicity of this dress is most flattering on those who are long and lean. Wearing such a simple design allows you to go all out on the accessories and shoes, although one could certainly make the entire look minimal.

I simply adore this dress that Gwen Stefani wore when tying the knot with hottie Gavin Rossdale. The dress was made by John Galliano for either his eponymous line or Christian Dior. The bottom of the dress was hand dipped in pink dye to give the dress a bit of an edge, because when you are Gwen Stefani, you can’t just have a simple white dress. Adding a twist such as this would be for the bride that wants to add a bit of an edge to a traditional wedding dress. Your interpretation could be to include a bold colored sash around your waist, statement shoes, or even something as minimal as a necklace with lots of color opting out of the traditional pearl set.

Finally, this dress was worn on the final season of Sex and the City by the character Charlotte Goldenblatt. I remember loving the fitted silhouette and the beading detail on the bodice. It is so intricate, and there are so many feminine details that accentuate her shape while creating a slimming effect. The dress was by Badgley Mischka, and I salivate every time I see this dress.

I hope this gives you some ideas on how to start brainstorming when thinking about what you will wear on your big day! Think of your favorite actress and Google what she wore; hopefully it will inspire you on where you can start your search!
